Choosing a mastic remover

The characteristics below are taken from each product’s own page. Confirm suitability for your adhesive, substrate and site before ordering.

Low and no odor

  • MA-22 No Odor — virtually zero odor, flash point over 200°F, CARB and OTC compliant. Page describes mastic under asbestos-containing VAT and VCT in hospitals, schools and commercial buildings.
  • MA-24 Premium No Odor — virtually zero odor, flashpoint over 200°F (approx 244), CARB and OTC compliant. Page describes asphalt and solvent-based mastics under asbestos VAT and VCT, and use where odor cannot be tolerated.
  • MA-100 Soy-Pro — soy-based, almost no odor, flash point over 400°F. Page describes black mastic under VAT, VCT and ceramic tile and tough yellow or tan carpet adhesive, a dwell time of about one hour on black mastic, and lists it as great for schools, hospitals and occupied buildings.
  • MA-34 Premium Low Odor — extremely low solvent odor, CARB and OTC compliant, described as VOC compliant in every state. Page describes black asphalt and solvent-based mastics under asbestos VAT and VCT.
  • MA-33 Low Odor — very low odor, flash point over 142°F. Page describes black mastic under VAT and VCT, with coverage typically over 100 square feet per gallon.

Restricted to unoccupied and demolition work

  • MA-44 High Performance — flash point over 142°F. Page states demolition use only, not for residences or soon-to-be-reoccupied areas.
  • MA-55 Xtreme! — page states it is formulated for demolition jobs where odor is not a factor and is not for occupied buildings.

Citrus

  • MA-28 Citrus Light — citrus-based, low odor, flash point 244°F, CARB and OTC compliant.
  • MA-88 Citrus Flash — citrus blend with 30% d-limonene, flash point over 142°F.
  • MA-77 Citrus Pro — citrus-based. Page describes black mastic under asbestos and composite tile, and linoleum adhesive and linoleum felt.

Carpet and sheet vinyl adhesive

  • MA-10 Carpet & Sheet Vinyl Adhesive Remover — water-based, biodegradable, low VOC. Page describes latex, acrylic and pressure-sensitive adhesives on concrete, terrazzo, ceramic tile, vinyl tile and wood, and dilution with hot water for sheet vinyl backing and carpet.

Cleaning and degreasing

  • Dynamic Green Degreaser — a cleaner and degreaser, not a mastic remover. Page describes a concentrated, dilutable formula with a pH of 12.4.
